Deep screening of ballast of BG plain Track by the way of removing the entire stone ballast including muck lying in the track below and between shoulder sleepers, under sleepers and on the shoulders to a maximum depth of 250mm , limiting the digging up to original formation level only, supporting the track temporarily with wooden blocks for passing the trains at a restricted speed of nonstop 20KMPH while the work is in progress and putting back the screened clean ballast on the track and lifting of track as required so as to get a clean cushion of 250mm, shifting of sleepers to correct spacing including removal and refixing of fittings wherever necessary to M+4 / M+7 / M+9 density squarring of sleepers including 1 kutcha packing aligning, dressing / lowering the cess to deep screened depth with contractors labour, tools etc with all leads and lifts and as directed by Engineer-In-Charge as per special conditions noted here under. 1. The muck removed during screening shall be led sufficiently away from track cutting as directed by the Engineer-In-charge, in case of bank the earth shall be neatly spread on cess bank for widening of cess / mucking of cess / bank profile. 2. The work of deep screening shall be operated in part or in full based on the direction of Railways. Non operation of the items in full / part shall not entitle the contractor for any claim / compensation. 3. The screening of ballast shall be done using inclined screens made of square mesh of specified size. Using of wire basket shall not be permitted. 4. The entire stone ballast means the ballast available on the track between toe points on either side and the ballast from its top level to original formation level. 5. The depth of digging shall be limited to original formation level only. In case existing cushion (clear + cacked up) upto original formation level is less than 200 / 250 / 300 mm, the balance cushion shall be made good by lifting the track to pre-decided rail level. NO extra payment shall be made for such lifting done subsequently to achieve 250mm ballast cushion.

Note:- 1. The approximate length of siding to be maintained as equated KMs length of Railway track. 2. Equated KMs means length of track + allowances given for points and crossings etc. as per Railways standards. 3. The contractor should indicate the Number and category of maintenance force that would be deployed by him daily/ weekly/ monthly. The minimum strength of maintenance force for every 8 KMs shall be Gangmen-10, Keyman-1, Mate-1. Further contractor shall engage one Gang man extra for every additional 1KM length of track and part thereof. Besides the contractor has to engage qualified Site Engineer. The contractor or his authorised representative should be available at time of emergencies, like de-railment etc. The gang mate should interact regularly with concerned CHP authorities to assess or to know about emergencies/de-Railments/track defects etc . and to attend immediately. 4. The required materials like rails, sleepers, points and crossings etc. will be issued to the contractor at any stores of the concerned area. The same have to be transported to work spot at his own cost. The removed materials are to be handed over in the Main stores/ sub-stores at the cost of the contractor only. 5. The material if any damaged due to improper maintenance and handling has to be replaced by the contractor at his cost.
