Work Detail
Dangerous Substances Occur In The Collections Of The Kb. Heavy Metals Such As Arsenic, Mercury, Lead And Chromium Are Used In Color And Dyes That Were Used To Enrich Books. These Substances Can Be Found In Different Places On An Object. For Example, It Can Be Found On The Book Binding, Back, Corners, Cuts, Bracts Or Ribbons (Reading And Closing Ribbons). At The Moment, The Kb Can Only Test On Arsenicum With A Time -Consuming Indicator Test In The Laboratory Of The Studio. Other Mobile Analysis Techniques, Such As Xrf Fluorescence (Xrf) And Ramanspectroscopy (Raman), Could Be Used On Location In The Warehouses, To Determine Not Only Arsenic, But Also Other Dangerous Heavy Metals Such As Lead, Mercury And Chromium. The Working Conditions Law And Regulations Indicates How An Employer Should Handle These Hazardous Substances If Employees Are Exposed To This. These Substances Are Classified As Cmr Substances (Carcinogenic, Mutagenene And/Or Reproduction Toxic Substances). As Part Of The Risk Inventory And Evaluation (Ri&E), An Employer Must Also Assess Exposure To Hazardous Substances. For The Royal Decree, Where We Do Not Have The Option To Remove Hazardous Substances In Collections, That The Royal Decree Is Obliged To Prevent Contact With This. The Kb Is Held At The Alara Principle, Where Exposure As Low As Reasonly Possible Is Kept. In Doing So, Wearing Personal Protective Equipment Is The Last Permitted Measure. So We Are Asked To Come Up With Measures That Make It Possible To Work Safely With Infected Collection To A Large Extent Without Having To Protect Themselves Personally. To Be Able To Do This, The Kb Must Know Which Items Contain In The Collection Of Hazardous Substances. For This, Parts Of The Collection Must Be Screened For These Hazardous Substances. In Addition, Taking Samples For Analysis Is Not An Option-The Applied Technology Must Be In-Situ And Non-Destructive. The Main Objective Of The Market Consultation Is To Coordinate A Possible Tendering Process With The Vision And Ambition Of The Royal Decree Within The Possibilities In The Market. With This Market Consultation, The Kb Tries To Gain Insight Into The Following Topics: • Inventory Of Which Market Parties Have Experience With The Above Subject Within The Eu. • Determine Which Analytical Technology (S) Is Suitable For The Use For Identifying Hazardous Substances Within The Collection Of The Kb. It Is About The Heavy Metal Arsenic, Mercury, Lead And Chromium Used In Color And Dyeing. • Getting Clear Whether The Entire Workflow Can Be Outsourced To One Party, Or Whether The Project Should Be Split Into Smaller Sub -Packages. • Determine How Many Collection Items Can Be Analyzed With The Use Of The Intended Technology In The Available Time Prior To The Large Future Collection To The New Book Warehouse. • Gaining Insight Into The Working Method / Process On Location In The Warehouses. • Gain Insight Into Whether This Analysis Techniques/Screening Can Have An Impact On The Accessibility Of The Warehouses And The Collection, Which Can Potentially Disrupt The Services. For Example, Because The Space Is Not Accessible During The Analyzes?
