West Arm Dam #1 - Seepage Repair Works . The Ministry Plans To Remediate West Arm Dam #1. A Sheet Pile Cutoff Wall And A Filter Blanket Will Be Installed Along The Downstream Toe. West Arm Lake Is Located Approximately 3 Km Northwest Of The Town Of Atikokan, And Atikokan Is Approximately 200 Km West Of Thunder Bay, On. Steep Rock Mine Ltd. Used The Lake Body For Water Intake And As A Sediment Dredge Retention Basin During Mine Development And Operations. The Lake’S Drainage Area Is Approximately 19 Km². During Operation And To Prevent The Dredge Material From Entering The Seine River, Steep Rock Ltd Isolated The Water Body By Construction Earth Dams And Tunnel Diversions. West Arm Dam No. 1 Is A Homogenous Compacted Earth Fill Dam Constructed Of Silty Sand And Gravel Fill. The Dam Is Approximately 18 M High, 323 M Long, With An 11 M Crest Width, And 4.88 M Freeboard. Contractor Shall Supply And Install A 260 M Long Steel Sheet Pile Wall, And An Approximate 15 – 20 M Wide Downstream Filter Blanket, And 16 M Long Boat Launch.
