In Addition, The Demand For A Regional Heritage Depot Has Been Living In The Midwest Region For Some Time. Both Needs Were Bundled And A Suitable Location Was Found In Schierveldestraat 89. The Site, Which Is Still Partly In Use For The Reception Of Ukrainian Refugees, Consists Of A Large Shed And An Office Area. The Current Works Only Relate To The Shed Part, Which Is Being Transformed Into An Archive And Heritage Depot. Design Agency Tides From Kortrijk Was Awarded As A Design Agency For These Works. The Outer Shell Of The Shed Is Replaced By Energetic And Fire -Safe Materials. The Existing Floor And Support Structure Are Retained. The Shed Is Divided Into Depots For Documents, Objects, Paintings, Textile And Metal Objects. In Addition, There Are Two Cooling Rooms, A Work Studio And An Emergency Depot. There Are Two Quarantine Rooms For Untreated Objects On The Entrance. No Active Heating Or Cooling Is Provided In The Depots. They Are Set Up According To The Danish Model, Where A Highly Insulated Outer Shell Is Combined With A Non-Insulated Floor. The Mass Of The Floor Acts As A Natural Temperature Controller. Only The Humidity In The Spaces Is Actively Checked. For These Works, A Subsidy Of 500,000 Euros Was Awarded From The Investment Subsidies For Cultural Infrastructure Of The Flemish Government.
