Deutsche Klimarechenzentrum Gmbh (Hereinafter: Client) Operates A Data Center For The Implementation Of Climate Simulations As A National Service Facility. The Hsm System To Be Procured Is Intended To Replace The Hardware And Software Of The Existing Hsm System Of The Type Crystalonyx Stronglink In Version 3.2. The Inventory Data From Currently Approx. 230 Pb (1 Pb = 10 High 15 Bytes) Are Spread Over Approx. 56 Million Files, Are Currently Stored By The Client In Two Hierarchy Levels: In The First Stage In A Hard Disk Capacity With A Storage Capacity Of 2.6 Pb And In The Second Step Over 70,000 Magnetic Tape Cassettes, Which Are Stored Over Several Band Libraries At Two Locations. The Existing Band Library System Will Continue To Be Used In The Future. The Client Plans The Procurement Of A Hierarchical Storage Management System (Hsm System) With A Storage Capacity Of At Least 1 Eb (1000 Pb), A Throughput Of At Least 10 Gb/S To 20 Gb/S And An Annual Increase Of Approx. 40 Pb. The Operational Readiness Of The Hsm System, Including The Migrated Inventory Data, Is To Be Manufactured At Least 6 Months After The Conclusion Of The Contract. The Contractor Is Intended To Provide The Following Services In Particular:-Delivery And Installation Of A Hierarchical Storage Management System (Hsm System) Including The Hardware For The Operation Of The Hsm Software And The Storage Of The Metadata As Well As Possibilities For Connecting The Client-Based Magnetic Tape Drives In The Enclosed Band Library System. The Delivery Of The First Memory Hierarchy Level (Cache For The Tapearchive) Is Included. In Addition, Storage Capacity Extensions Should Be Possible During The Contract Term. -Migration Of The Inventory Metadata From The Existing Stronglink System And The Previous Hpss System. It Must Be Ensured That The Process Of Transfer Is Carried Out Without Significant Restriction In The Availability Of The Data.
