Expression of Interest for Environmental and Social Technical Assistance to TANESCO The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received a financing from Agence Française de Développement (AFD), and intends to use part of the funds thereof for payments under the following project Environmental and Social Technical Assistance (E&S TA) to TANESCO. In general, the E&S TA will be responsible for supporting TANESCO on the optimal implementation of the projects Environmental and Social Management and Monitoring Plan (ESMMP), supervision of RAP activities, supervision of EPC Contractor as well as coordination with other government agencies on the implementation of ESMMP. In doing so, the Technical Assistant will ensure compliance of the project to the World Bank standards as well as AfDB, AFD and IFC standards. The work will include three components : Component 1 Supervision of social aspects and RAP implementation Component 2 Support to the Supervision of the C-ESMP Component 3 ESMMP implementation Determination of the similarity of the experiences will be based on: The contracts size; (At least 80 MW Hydropower Project, 220 kV transmission line and 220/132/33 kV substation) The nature of the Services- Is to provide Enviromental and Social Technical Assistance to TANESCO in implimentation of all measures as defined under the project Enviroment and Social Management and Monitoring Plan (ESMMP) as well as the implimentation of Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) The technical area and expertise for the firm including but not limited to Enviromental management in hydropower project or other similar project Resettlement Action Plan Management in energy related projects Biodiaversty action plan Management (Aquatic and Terrestrial biodiaversty) Supervision of Occupational Health and Safatey in Hydropower projects or any other energy related projects Social Management (Gender Mainstreaming, Stakeholder angegment etc) The location Kakono hydropower potential site is located on the Kagera River, North West part of Tanzania near the border with Uganda, approximately 90 km west of Bukoba Municipality. The Client will also take into account for the evaluation of the applications based on the following items: Certification and Registration with relavant profession Bodies/ Authorities/ISO etc. Vast experience in Supervision of Lenders financed projects especially hydroelectric project or any other large civil projects Experince in preparation of RAP and ESIA studies which follow International Standards in Hydropower project or energy related projects. Among the submitted applications, Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) will shortlist a maximum of six (6) Applicants, to whom the Request for Proposals to carry out the Services shall be sent.
