Tenders are invited for Feasibility Studies to Reuse Electric Vehicle Batteries to Provide Electricity Services Budget: USD 100,000 Objectives: The objective of the consultancy is to assess the feasibility of reusing end-of-life electric vehicle (EV) batteries in Barbados for energy storage services, including grid support and backup power. The key objectives are to evaluate the availability and condition of these batteries for energy storage, identify technical, regulatory, and logistical challenges, and prepare feasibility studies for two projects, while building capacity among stakeholders for effective project design and implementation. Eligibility criteria: Eligible consulting firms must be from a member country of the Inter-American Development Bank or from an eligible territory. The eligible member countries include nations from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, North America, Asia, and the Pacific, such as the Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Japan, and the United States, among others. Eligible territories comprise departments and constituents of France, the USA, and the Netherlands, as well as Hong Kong. Consulting firms must demonstrate extensive experience in executing electromobility projects, specifically focusing on battery waste management. Firms with successful projects in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and the Caribbean, particularly in Barbados, will be preferred. Consulting firms are encouraged to form partnerships or consortiums to enhance their qualifications. The proposed team should include a Project Manager with at least 15 years of experience in energy or electromobility projects, an Electric Mobility Expert with a minimum of 5 years of experience in energy mobility projects, and a BESS Expert with at least 10 years in energy storage projects. The team members are required to have relevant educational backgrounds and be fluent in English, with previous work experience in Latin America and the Caribbean being desirable. Since July 1, consulting firms must also update their profiles on the BEO Portal with a Business Partner Number to participate in the procurement process, with proposals delivered by a defined deadline.
