The Fuel Management Prescription Will Be Written For Shawnigan Estates To Create A Fuelbreak From Wildfires That Could Be Started On Crown Provincial Land. The Area For Prescription Is 14.8 Hectares, Which Is A Continuation From The Ravenhill Fuel Management Parcel In 2024-25. The Fire Behavior Prediction System Fuel Type Is Classified As C5, And These Areas Provide A Strategic Buffer For Residential Areas. There Is No Merchantable Timber Harvesting Associated With This Project, Rather The Pre-Commercial Silviculture Will Reduce Understory Fire Risk By Mitigating Surface Fuel Arrangement. There Are Sensitive Soils And Recreational Trails Intermixed, So The Fuel Management Prescription Must Address These Ecological And Social Pressures In Treatment.
