Expression of Interest are invited for Growing Zimbabwes Horticulture Sector Horticulture is a strategic subsector in Zimbabwes economy, contributing significantly to the countrys agriculture GDP (6.5 percent in 2022) and generating considerable employment and foreign exchange. As of 2022, the sector employed 18,700 people. Horticultural exports from Zimbabwe reached US$64.6 million 2021, up from US$59.5 million in 2020. The main export fruits are citrus, passion fruit, strawberries, and avocados, while the main export vegetables are mange-tout peas, French beans, baby corn, sweet corn, baby carrots, chilis, and cherry tomatoes. Despite its promise, Zimbabwes horticulture sector faces significant constraints to further growth, higher export volumes, and job creation at scale The World Bank is seeking to engage a firm or organization (the Consultant) to support the Zimbabwe Private and Financial Sector Development PASA through a) providing capacity-building to private sector horticulture stakeholders for strengthening hub-and-spoke models; and b) conducting industry and regulatory analysis on Zimbabwes horticulture sector.
