Work Detail

Tenders are invited for Integrated Multiplexer for Hybrid Satcom/Terrestrial 6g User Terminals in Frequency Range 3 (fr3) (Artes 4.0 Spl 5g/6g 7a.081) Expro+ The objective of the activity is to design, build, and test a wideband multiplexer breadboard supporting 6G Non-Terrestrial-Networks (NTN) in FR3.Targeted Improvements:Enabling building block for hybrid terrestrial/Satcom 6G services.Description: In the frame of 6G developments, the network infrastructure will evolve towards a higher level of integration between the terrestrial network (TN) and the non-terrestrial network (NTN), with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellites playing a significant role in extending coverage and offloading traffic.Frequency Range 3 (FR3) spanning from 7 GHz to 24 GHz, has emerged as a new development area for 6G communications. The spectrum potentially allocated to mobile service on a primary basis includes 7.145 8.5, 10 13.25, 14.3 15.35, 17.7 19.7, and 21.2 23.6 GHz, accumulating in an aggregate bandwidth of approximately 9 GHz. For such systems, a multiband and highly integrated multiplexer would be a key component to enable multiple RF (Radio Frequency) chains to share a common antenna aperture for terminals communicating with both TN/NTN. This feature is particularly attractive in the implementation of hybrid User Terminals for 6G, where up to five bands need to be separated. This activity will develop a wideband multiplexer breadboard using advanced RF filtering and packaging techniques, enabling hybrid terrestrial/satcom 6G NTN services within the same antenna aperture. A review of multiplexing techniques suitable for wideband operation (covering as a minimum the 7 - 24 GHz frequency range) will be carried out with emphasis on filter and multiplexing techniques compatible with monolithic circuit integration, multimode single filter, Air-Filled Substrate Integrated Waveguide, or metamaterials. The activity will trade off and select at least one application scenario (e.g. direct-to-device (D2D), UAVs-supported satellite backhauls) and will produce the detailed design ofa breadboard (5 channels minimum) based on the selected application scenario. Finally, the multiplexer breadboard will be manufactured and tested. The activity shall seek synergies with ongoing flat-panel antenna developments and studies which are outside the scope of this activity. Procurement Policy: C(2) = Activities in open competition, where a significant participation of non-LSIs isrequested.
