Tenders are invited for Advanced Concept for Lunar Odts - Expro plus Define sensing methodology and data processing algorithms for precise onboard ODTS to enableautonomy from Earth ground segment for navigation satellite constellations in Cislunar space.DescriptionThe Moonlight initiative aims to provide reliable communication and navigation services in supportof next generation institutional and private Lunar Exploration Missions, including enhancing theperformance of those missions currently under definition. A joint Lunar Communication andNavigation Services (LCNS), which will integrate the Radio Navigation Services, is in its Phase A/B1study. Moreover, activities targeting the definition of Orbit Determination and Time Synchronisation(ODTS) algorithms for the initial service of the lunar radio navigation satellites are under finalisationbut they currently rely on direct to Earth links, de facto imposing strong dependency from Earth ground infrastructure.Such dependency, if in the initial phase will help to speed up the deployment of the system and provide a service in a short time frame, in the long term, might limit the availability of the navigation service and result in higher cost and operational complexity. For this reason, it is important to address the technological enablers for a feasible autonomousODTS of a constellation of satellites in cislunar space with advanced concepts suitable for Deep Space autonomous navigation. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Investigate applicable payload, sensing technologies and algorithms for accurate onboard ODTS of satellite constellations in Cislunarspace.- Investigate applicable data processing algorithms for accurate onboard ODTS of Cislunarsystem satellites.- Develop a simulator for evaluating the designed algorithms and their optimal configuration.- Produce a roadmap (e.g. DDVP) to increase the technology readiness of the proposed technologies (e.g. up to TRL8) Tender Link : https://esastar-publication-ext.sso.esa.int/ESATenderActions/filter/open
