Expression of Interest for Reducing Emissions by Supporting Local Low Embodied Carbon Supply Chains The World Banks procurement team is undertaking a project to develop a methodology that will enable the procurement of World Bank funded projects to reduce embodied carbon by supporting the use of locally produced Low Embodied Carbon (LEC) materials. We are looking to engage a consultant to conduct a market analysis on local low embodied carbon supply chains in West [and North] Africa, in particular the availability of a range of locally produced, low carbon materials, in particular the emissions intensive construction materials required for infrastructure projects: steel, cement, concrete, aluminum, and other specific fabricated components (e.g. transmission towers for energy projects). The focus is on energy infrastructure for generation, distribution and transmission, noting some of the materials will have broader applications. Consulting firms are invited to indicate their interest in providing the Services by providing information to demonstrate that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. The shortlisting criteria are: - Technical knowledge of carbon intensive construction materials (e.g. steel, concrete, cement, aluminum). - Technical knowledge of transmission and distribution products, including material specifications and supply chain risks and limitations. - Knowledge of West African heavy industry manufacturing sector. - Track record of market analysis for materials. - Knowledge of low carbon alternatives for traditional construction materials.
