Work Detail
Expression of Interest for Seasonal Assessment for Nexus Accelerator Fund Project. Closing Date: 23 Jun 2025 Type: Consultancy Themes: Agriculture/Climate Change and Environment/Food and Nutrition Background and Rationale Since 1993, World Vision has been working in Somalia with the highest levels of child poverty. Our goal is to achieve long-lasting benefits in the quality of life for vulnerable children and their families, displaced persons, and communities using a development approach that increases participation, understanding and unity among people of different cultures while promoting the rights and interests of Somali children. In response to the humanitarian needs of the Somali people, World Vision designs and delivers programs coordinated at regional and country levels by dedicated staff that provides strategic and operational support. Our program offices are located close to communities so our teams can be responsive to the needs of local children and their families at the community level. The Somalia Nexus Accelerator Fund (SNAF) aims to address the intertwined challenges of conflict and climate change that impact vulnerable populations in Hudur and Luuq districts of Somalia. The primary goal of the SNAF program is to support extremely poor and socially marginalized communities in these districts by strengthening their resilience to shocks and stresses. Through an integrated approach, combining humanitarian aid, development, and peacebuilding efforts, the program seeks to achieve sustainable outcomes that build longer-term resilience in the Gedo and Bakool regions. The program focuses on several key priority areas, including reducing vulnerability, strengthening resilience to crises, and supporting livelihoods. Specific areas of intervention include environmental and natural resource management, food security and livelihood assistance, market access, trade and financial services, basic social services, and disaster risk management and preparedness. The seasonal assessment aims to evaluate the impact of seasonal changes (e.g., Gu/Deyr rains, dry spells, floods, etc.) on the food security, livelihoods, nutrition, and coping strategies of vulnerable populations. This assessment will inform programming, contingency planning, and targeted support to mitigate seasonal risks and strengthen community resilience in lluq and Hudur Districts. The assessment aligns with the WVI commitment to evidence-based programming and supports ongoing efforts under the NAF project.
