Tenders are invited for Local Consultant for Interviews in Syria (Idlib and/or Hasaka) Closing Date: 4 Jun 2025 Type: Consultancy Themes: Gender/Protection and Human Rights Background Methodica Consulting is a consulting firm specialised in measuring social change in complex settings. We build tailored M&E and research methodologies to support public and private entities in delivering social change in remote locations, fragile states, and developing countries. What were looking for Methodica Consulting is currently looking for a local consultant, based in country, to run a set of 20 to 30 interviews in either Idlib and/or Hasaka. The informants are refugees and internally displaced persons who received legal and protection services (e.g., women with personal status issues in relation to children of the marriage, girls with children born of child marriages, stateless persons, children whose parentage is unknown). The aim of the project is to understand their inclusion and integration into societal systems after receiving support. The successful applicant will demonstrate the following: Ability to assess the fieldwork logistical feasibility, including advising on operational challenges as well as local customs and sensitivities contributing to questionnaire design and selection of informants; Ability to respect a field plan, including regular reporting on the status of scheduled interviews; Familiarity with key concepts of research approach, such as do no harm, research fatigue and data management; Ability to record the discussion, based on informants and Clients approval; Ability to produce interview transcript (NOT summary); Ability to support during data analysis, to interpret specific pieces of information and contextual dimensions and sensitivities. Ability to translate interview questionnaires and transcripts from English into the languages/dialect relevant for data collection (and vice versa). Equally, the following is an asset, but not mandatory: Ability to translate interview questionnaires and transcripts from English into the languages/dialect relevant for data collection (and vice versa).
