Expression of Interest for Study on Women Access to Financial Services and Participation in Market Systems Closing Date: 6 Jun 2025 Type: Consultancy Background: World Vision is a relief, development, and advocacy organisation dedicated to working with children, families, and communities. We work with community members, supporting them to overcome poverty and injustice. Our aim is to lift poor and marginalised households out of the vicious cycle of dependence by addressing the underlying causes of vulnerability to environmental and socio-economic shocks. SomRePs Objective: SomRePs objective is to build resilience capacity among pastoralists, agro-pastoralists, fisherfolk, and also in peri-urban host and internally displaced persons (IDP) communities. Our work seeks to empower women, youth, and people with disabilities (PWD) in ways that will bring them into societies and economies so they can participate as equals. Study Objectives: The overall objective of this consultancy is to generate evidence-based insights into the barriers, enablers, and opportunities related to womens access to finance, and their integration into the local economy in Somaliland and Puntland. The study aims to inform the design of gender-responsive financial inclusion strategies, strengthen womens economic empowerment, and support the formalization of women-led enterprises through actionable programming and policy recommendations. Study Specific Objectives: Map womens access to financial services, both formal (banks, microfinance, mobile money) and informal (community savings groups, rotating credit). To explore the barriers related to gender and social inclusion that limit access to financial services and involvement in local market systems, with an emphasis on how aspects such as gender, age, clan affiliation, and disability affect decision-making and economic empowerment. Assess the perception and responsiveness of financial service providers (FSPs) and regulatory institutions toward women clients. Explore womens engagement in inclusive markets, including business registration, taxation, regulatory compliance, and formal employment. To assess womens participation in livestock, agriculture, and micro and small enterprises, and identify gender-inclusive market opportunities in these key local economy sectors Develop evidence-based recommendations to inform programming, financial product design, market system capacity development, and policy advocacy.
