Expression of Interest for Construction and Rehabilitation of WASH Infrastructures in 3 HCFs in Dar es Salaam. Introduction: WaterAid Tanzania (V/AT) is a recognized international NGO committed to ensuring access to safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for everyone, everywhere by 2030. In collaboration with DP World, V/AT is implementing a project titled Strengthening WASH in Communities and Health-Care Facilities in Dar es Salaam. The initiative targets three public health-care facilities such as Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, Kigamboni Health Centre and Kurasini Dispensary with the aim of improving climate-resilient, inclusive, and sustainable WASH services. A comprehensive baseline assessment conducted in March 2025 revealed major infrastructure gaps in water supply systems, sanitation facilities, hygiene Infrastructure and medical waste management. These gaps pose significant risks to infection prevention and control (IPC), especially in high volume health-care environments. Inadequate WASH facilities undermine both the quality of health services and patient dignity, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women, children and persons with disabilities. Strengthening WASH systems in health-care facilities is not only a public health necessity but also a human rights imperative. Addressing these infrastructure needs will contribute to Tanzanias national targets on universal health coverage and improved maternal and child health outcomes.
