While humanitarian needs, the Shelter Cluster and HNRP2025 strategy and lessons learned from previous projects and studies support the relevance of developing a support strategy for the production of bricks for the construction of sustainable shelters in the context of the Sudanese crisis in eastern Chad, it is essential to carry out further analysis to ensure the relevance and feasibility of the intervention strategy as well as the appropriate means to be implemented in the context of projects under planning. Objectives: Overall objectives: Contribute to the reduction of the environmental impact of the crisis in the field of shelter; Increase access for refugees, returnees and host populations to dignified and safe shelter, adapted to the climatic, economic and socio-cultural contexts; To foster income generation for local populations in the field of construction, through the promotion of already existing production activities and new livelihoods for refugees as well as for the host community. Specific Objective: Support the AICRL and the CRT in the planning of a strategy to support communities in eastern Chad with a view to the production of bricks for the construction of sustainable shelters taking into account the socio-cultural, economic and environmental contexts of the planned places of intervention Intermediate Outcomes and Expected Deliverables: Develop a strategy to support earthen construction taking into account: land tenure security; social integration/community cohesion; the promotion of local construction actors and techniques; environmental impact; constraints related to the quality of the land available at the proposed sites of intervention, and the social and economic sustainability of the proposed support modalities. To develop an action plan and the necessary means of action for the implementation of a strategy to support the production of bricks and the construction of houses in the context of refugee camps and host populations in eastern Chad. Propose a matrix summarizing the social, economic and ecological advantages and disadvantages of the different types of bricks in the context of Eastern Chad is available. Methodology: The methodological approach will be co-constructed with the expert(s) who will be selected for the implementation of the study on the basis of their technical and financial proposal.
