Tenders are invited for Development of a Feasibility Study for the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Hua Hin Project in Thailand Description : GGGI is inviting eligible firms/entities to submit their proposals for the following scope of work under the Advancing ASEAN-Korean Cooperation in Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management (IMSWM) for Environmentally Sustainable Cities project: PROJECT BACKGROUND: GGGI is implementing the Advancing ASEAN-Korean Cooperation in Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management (IMSWM) for Environmentally Sustainable Cities and Thailand is one of the beneficiary countries specifically aimed to: (a) formulate a strengthened and coherent regional framework for IMSWM in ASEAN to support ASEAN Vision 2040 and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Blueprint 2025; (b) accelerate investment for IMSWM projects by developing a project pipeline along with conducting pre-feasibility studies; (c) establish an online multistakeholder knowledge sharing and collaboration platform for AMS; and (d) Strengthen IMSWM capacity in ASEAN and ASEAN-Korea knowledge exchange, through policy, capacity development, knowledge and technology transfer, and investment mobilization across the region. In Thailand, the selected project that will benefit from support for implementation is the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Hua Hin Project of Eco Sol Co. Ltd (the Company). The Project consists of a modular BSF facility that can be expanded with business growth and development of collection capability (the Project). The BSF facility will convert organic waste into byproducts that can be sold to farmers or pet food producers. Thanks to its small scale, relative simplicity and modularity, the Project could be replicated throughout Thailand in similar medium-size cities other than Hua Hin and provide an efficient solution to organic waste management. Diversion of organic waste from landfill will support Thailand in reducing waste to landfill therefore expanding lifespan of those landfills, reducing GHG emissions and maximizing value of waste by reducing contamination of MSW. ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVE: GGGI aims to engage a qualified consulting firm (hereinafter referred to as the Consultant) to conduct a feasibility study on the Project. The objectives of the assignments are: 1. Preliminary evaluate the opportunity to improve solid waste management systems in the selected areas through appropriate technologies and system, based on the prior discussions with the national and sub-national stakeholders, and indicate alternatives if the proposed options are not feasible or relevant; 2. Identify opportunities for advancing organic waste recovery and circular economy initiatives. 3. Identify investment needs and provide a preliminary estimation of capex and, operation and maintenance costs, and cost recovery projections. 4. Explore strategies to enhance financial and institutional sustainability within the waste management sector, including (but not limited to) leveraging growth in the tourism and hospitality industries.
