The City Of Weil Am Rhein, With Effect On The Change Of Timetable In December 2026, Intends To Direct A Public Service Mandate (Öda) On Passenger Transport In Regular Transport In The Area Of ​​The City Of Weil Am Rhein. Furthermore, The Following Services With Regard To The Operation Of The Cross-Border Tram Line 8 Of The Basel Verkehrsbetriebe Public Law Institution (Bvb) Are The Subject Of The Services To Be Provided: The Operator Will Operate The Infrastructure Required For The Tram Line Between The Border Crossing Weil Am Rhein/Friedlingen And The Final Stop Europaplatz In The City Area And Provide The Electrical Energy Required For The Operation Of The Tram. In Addition, The City Can Exercise The Following Options With A Lead Of Six Months: 1. The Operator Becomes A Approval Owner Or Operator Tram Line 8 In The Urban Area. However, Bvb Will Continue To Provide The Driving Performance As A Approval Holder Or Subcontractor. 2. There Are Currently Considerations To Extend Tram Line 8 From The Current End Stop Europaplatz To A New End Stop (Tram 8+). After Exercising The Corresponding Option, The Operator Will Set Up And Operate The Necessary Infrastructure And Provide The Electrical Energy Required For The Operation Of The Tram. In Addition, Option No. 1 Can Also Be Exercised With Regard To This Section Of The Route.
