In the area of capacity development, the Forum supports conflict transformation and peacebuilding projects and seeks to strengthen the capacity of NGOs to operate in a conflict-sensitive manner through training and mentoring. The Forum developed and implemented a series of trainings with partner organizations, including a wide range of conflict transformation tools and methods, such as thinking about peace practice, conflict analysis, mediation, and the principle of do no harm, among others. Context and background There is a growing recognition that gender equality and sustainable peace are inextricably linked. Gender inequality, violence, conflict and fragility appear to be mutually reinforcing, underscoring the importance of highlighting gender roles as a critical dimension to understanding conflict, peacebuilding and development. Many development and peacebuilding actors strive to increase womens social and political participation. However, there is a need to understand the organizational structures, dynamics and gender norms that underpin them, to be able to address and transform them through the design of our development and peacebuilding programs and interventions. Our goal is to build the capacity of development and peacebuilding practitioners to embed a gender methodology in the programs/projects they implement in their sectors. Training Content Introduce and promote understanding of the intersection between conflict, development and gender contexts. Reflect on inequality and its impact on power relations in society Understand and analyze gender barriers and challenges faced by women at the individual, community, institutional and institutional levels and strategies to address them through the socio-ecological model Learning and thinking about gender mainstreaming tools Promote reflection with peers on the tools introduced for gender mainstreaming and their applicability in local contexts.
