Expression of Interest for School Infrastructure Assessment in Comoros Description: Global evidence shows that learning environments are an important factor in attracting and keeping children in school, as well as improving learning outcomes. The government of Comoros has made a commendable effort in ensuring access to primary schools, despite being faced with recurrent damaging impacts of climate shocks to school infrastructure. Every year cyclones cause extensive flooding and landslides, causing considerable damage to schools and leading to school closures. Inadequate provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities also risk the spreading of diseases especially after floods. The World Bank aims to conduct a survey on school infrastructure in public primary schools in Comoros. The survey aims to shed light on school infrastructure resilience against cyclones and floods, and provide a baseline on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure in primary schools, as well as other information on public primary schools to shed light on their physical condition/state, and needs.
