Expression of Interest are invited for Fisheries Value Chain Analysis in Yemen Description: The Program on Sustainable Fishery Development in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (SFISH) (P178143) aims to promote regional cooperation for sustainable fishery management and strengthen effective fishery production and value chains in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (RSGA) region. The SFISH program is rehabilitating landing site locations in Taiz, Aden, Hadramout and Al Mahrah governorates. Fish landing site rehabilitation will enable the landing of fish and accompanying investments in fish processing businesses may be expected to stimulate fisheries activity. Site rehabilitation does not yet include ice making or chill storage as the value chains that may provide the profitability for fishermen, processors, transporters and retailers to pay for ice and chill storage at each step are not known.The objective of this activity is to establish the current and potential future volume and value of fresh fish by species for each landing site (8 in total) at each point of the value chain from first sale at landing site, through auction to processing then transport, wholesale and eventual retail. With this data and estimated capital costs of equipment to analyze the potential profitability of the enterprises involved (fishing, landing site, processing, transport, wholesale and retail) of the use of ice at sea, ice making and chill storage at each landing site and in each step of the value chain. Each of the SFISH supported landing sites are expected to have different requirements for ice making and chill storage, some have markets for fish in common with other sites others do not.
