Due To The Nature Of Waste Decomposition, Proponents Should Anticipate That Landfill Gas Will Be Present In The Leachate Collection Piping. Landfill Gas Is Composed Of Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulfide And Various Other Gases. The Accumulation Of These Gases Within The Leachate Collection System Has The Potential To Create A Hazardous Environment (Explosive, Displacement Of Oxygen, Etc.)
