The Province Requires A Vendor To Provide Chemical Waste Disposal Services For Its Agri-Food Assurance Laboratories. These Laboratories Use Chemical And Molecular Techniques To Analyze Various Matrices For Food Safety And Animal Health Hazards, And Consequently Generate A Large Variety Of Chemical Waste.A)Project Backgroundthe Agri-Food Assurance Laboratories Are In The O.S. Longman Building, 6909-116 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T6h 4P2. The Chemical Waste Is Stored For Disposal In The Adjacent Agronomy Building, 6903-116 Street, Edmonton, Alberta, T6h 5Z2.The Waste Produced In The Laboratories Includes But Is Not Limited To The Following:•Organic Solvents•Acids•Bases•Dyesb)Project Objectives- The Objectives Of The Project Are To: I.Provide On Site Sorting, Handling, Packaging And Labeling Of All Chemical Waste Accumulated By The Laboratories;Ii.Provide Transport Canada (Tc) Or Transportation Of Dangerous Goods (Tdg) Approved Labels And Containers For Packaging And Transport Of All Waste;Iii.Remove And Transport All Waste To An Appropriate Disposal Or Storage Site According To (Tc) Or (Tdg) Legislation; Andiv.Provide Disposal Or Recycling Of All Waste In A Manner Compliant With Local, Provincial, And Federal Regulations.C)Project Structurethe Laboratories Have Three Streams Of Chemical Waste For Disposal: I.Regular Routine Chemical Waste – Liquid Waste Mixtures Generated And Collected Regularly Over 4 - 6 Month Durations;Ii.Irregular Routine Chemical Waste – Liquid And Solid Waste Mixtures Generated And Collected Sporadically Over 6 - 18 Month Durations; Andiii.Non-Routine Chemical Waste – Uncommon Liquid Or Solid Waste Mixtures Or Pure Chemicals That Are Expired Or No Longer Required.The Vendor Will Provide: I.Containers For Regular Routine Chemical Waste – Size And Type Listed In Attachments #3 And #4 To Appendix C;Ii.Any Containers Required For Consolidation Of Irregular Routine Chemical Waste And Non-Routine Chemical Waste;Iii.Any Materials Or Supplies, Including Labels, Required To Package And Transport All Chemical Waste;Iv.All Required Personnel And Transport, Including Insurance;V.Documentation Outlining Their Approach To This Project Along With Timelines And Start Date Before Disposal Pick-Up Will Be Authorized. During The Project, Vendors Will Have Access To The Agronomy Site From 08:15 To 12:00 And 13:00 To 15:00, Monday To Friday, Excluding Holidays. Access Is Granted By The Information Officer At The Reception Desk In The O.S.L. Building, Hours Are Not Flexible. Approach Document Will Identify Any Waste Items The Vendor Cannot Or Will Not Remove From The Premises.Vi.Documentation Identifying The Inventory Removed From The Afas Premises And Documentation Indicating The Transfer Of Said Inventory To An Approved Waste Facility.Vii.In The Case Of Non-Routine Chemical Waste, Documentation Indicating How The Submitted List Of Chemicals Will Be Packaged And An Estimation Of The Total Cost Will Be Provided Prior To Scheduling A Time For Waste Removal.The Laboratories Will Provide: I.Containers For Irregular Routine Chemical Waste – Size And Type Listed In Attachments #3 And #4 To Appendix C;Ii.A List Of Regular And Irregular Routine Chemical Waste In Attachment #3 To Appendix C; Andiii.Non-Routine Chemical Waste Will Be Identified And Sds Information Submitted To Vendor Prior To Request For Removal.Iv.Requests For Waste Removal Will Be Made By Email. They Will Include Waste Information, A Contact Name And Phone Number, And A Date By Which The Waste Will Be Removed.
