Tenders are invited for Study on Sustainable Development Mechanism of Erhai Nature Reserve Approval Date: 24-Nov-2024 Estimated Commencement Date: 277,475 USD Engagement Period: 24 MONTH Objective and Purpose of the Assignment Output 1: Ecological and environmental management of Erhai Lake Nature Reserve strengthened (a) Conduct a review of policy and regulatory frameworks and identify opportunities for strengthening institutional arrangements for the comprehensive ecological and environmental management of Erhai Lake, including consultation with local communities and ethnic minorities as appropriate; (b) assess the current skills and capacity gaps of DPG based on sex-disaggregated data for ecological protection and environmental conservation and determine the investment in skills and training needed to achieve and maintain lake water quality targets and eco-environmental management objectives; and (c) support the development of an action plan for strengthening comprehensive lake management programs, incorporating development of a stakeholder engagement plan to guide comprehensive community and stakeholder engagement in identifying opportunities for nature-based community livelihood development and gender-responsive, community-based ecosystem protection activities (e.g. ecotourism). Output 2: Sustainable lake catchment management capacity promoted (a) Support the improvement of capacity and skills of DPG lake management officers responsible for lake ecological protection and environmental management by introducing best management practices (including digital technologies) training and awareness raising on eco-environmental protection in protected areas, including engagement with local stakeholders, the local conservation community including ethnic communities, women, farmers, visitors, and private companies (e.g. tourism services providers); and (b) strengthen institutional coordination and policies for regulatory and compliance actions for lake management and water quality, and comprehensive measures to address lake basin nonpoint source pollution.
