Bids Are Invited For Emmc National Mapping Project

At The July 2024 Energy And Mines Ministers’ Conference (Emmc), Federal, Provincial, And Territorial (Fpt) Ministers Responsible For Energy And Mining Emphasized The Need For A More Strategic And Coordinated Approach To Advancing Critical Mineral Projects. This Approach Aims To Position Canada As The Global Supplier Of Choice For Critical Minerals.Ministers Have Agreed To Collectively Identify And Map Priority Provincial And Territorial (Pt) Value Chains For Critical Minerals. This Map Would Help Identify Gaps And Opportunities To Guide Strategic Investments Across Jurisdictions.Natural Resources Canada (Nrcan) And The Alberta Ministry Of Energy And Minerals (Em) Agreed To Co-Champion This Work, Which Involves The Development Of A National Map Of Priority Critical Mineral Value Chains And Investment Opportunities. Pts Are Currently Compiling Information On Value Chains Within Their Respective Jurisdiction. Nrcan And Em Will Procure A Contractor To Develop The National Map Based On Information Received From The Pts, And To Identify Value Chain Gaps And Investment Opportunities.The Project Aims To Create A Comprehensive Digital Map Of Canada’S Critical Mineral Value Chains, Using Information Provided By Pts. This Map Will Highlight Key Features Of Existing Value Chains.The Project Also Seeks To Identify Growth Opportunities, Gaps And Linkages To Potential Strategic Investments Across Jurisdictions. The Project Will Enable Fpt Governments To Undertake Further Coordinated Strategic Actions To Support The Development Of Critical Minerals Value Chains. The Contract Will Be Managed By Em, With Support From A Team Comprised Of Representatives From Nrcan And Em (The “Contracting Team”).
