Expression of Interest are invited for Market & Feasibility Diagnostic: Agricultural Value Chains in Northern Mozambique. Description: Mozambique has been classified as a medium-intensity conflict country by the World Bank Fragile and Conflict-affected Situations List for five consecutive years (FY21-FY25). The country faces forced displacements due to armed conflicts, natural disasters, and climate change, currently hosting around 25,000 refugees and asylum seekers, in addition to 577,545 internally displaced persons. Most of the internally displaced persons are concentrated in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula, and Niassa, while displacements caused by climatic events mainly affect the central provinces of Sofala, Manica, Tete, and Zambezia. Internally displaced persons and refugees face significant challenges, including dependence on humanitarian aid for basic needs and limited access to education, employment, and financial services. The situation is exacerbated by persistent insecurity and recurring climatic events, making forced displacement increasingly prolonged and frequent. Creating sustainable support and lasting economic opportunities for these displaced populations remains a crucial challenge for the government and humanitarian and development communities. The study under this Terms of Reference (ToR) is to conduct a comprehensive diagnostic of agricultural value chains in FDP-hosting areas of northern Mozambique. Additionally, the study will explore how financial institutions can meet the financing needs of these value chains and contribute to local economic development in areas hosting forcibly displaced persons.
