Tenders are invited for Construction Works for Water Supply Measures in Babati Urban Water and Sanitation Programme Phase 2 of the 7 Towns Urban Upgrading Programme Construction Works for Water Supply Measures in Babati LOT 1 Construction Works for Water Supply Measures in Babati LOT 2 Project Ref No: BMZ N°: 2012 65 156 AND 2015 68 138 Funding: The Government of Tanzania and The German Government represented by Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). Project Measures: The objective of the Urban Water and Sanitation Programme Phase 2 of the 7 Towns Urban Upgrading Programme Babati Water Supply Infrastructure is to provide safe, reliable and sustainable water supply services in Babati, Tanzania and thereby contribute to improvement in access, health, social well-being and living standards of the beneficiaries. The project will improve existing infrastructure and enhance the operational, commercial and service delivery efficiency of the Babati Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (BAWASA). The water and wastewater services on the project area are now under the responsibility of BAWASA. As of August 2023, there are twenty-one (21) water sources in Babati Town Council (TC): Groundwater sources (16 boreholes) Surface water sources (4 springs through intake) Bacho WTP, with a designed capacity of 13,000 m3 Urban Water and Sanitation Programme Phase 2 of the 7 Towns Urban Upgrading Programme has been divided into two (2) components: Component 1 Potable water infrastructure and sanitation measures; Component 2 Capacity building. The present Prequalification process concerns part of the construction works included in the Component 1 Potable water infrastructure. Requested Works: LOT 1: 17km rehabilitation with diameters ranging from 90 to 110 mm HDPE 72 km extension with diameters ranging from 90 to 315 mm HDPE 30 km additional extension of 110 mm HDPE Construction of new 5,000 m° tank (Sawe Hill) Construction of access road to new 5,000m3 tank (Sawe Hill). Construction of new gravity transmission main from new 5,000m3 tank (Sawe Hill) to newly constructed Sinai Tank (4.8km of pipelines of 250 mm, HDPE) Construction of connections between existing and new tanks at Sawe Hill and Sinai Hill (400m of pipelines of 160 mm, HDPE) LOT 2: Construction of 4 new boreholes (17 final diameter, depth up to 120 m) Construction of booster pump station (incl. 300m3 tank) at selected wellfield Construction of access roads wellfield. Construction of 5 pump mains (boreholes to booster station / booster station to new 5000m3 tank at Sawe Hill (estimated pump capacity: 75 m3/h. length 160 mm HDPE (4x) / estimated pump capacity 300 m°/h, length: 355 mm HDPE(1x)) The Tanzania Ministry of Water intends to prequalify contractors for the Work Contracts for LOT and LOT 2 which are based on the FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Building and Engineering Works designed by the Employer (Pink Book). Expected Construction Period is 18 Months and 15 months for LOT and LOT 2, respectively + 12 Months Defect Notification Period. Applicants with qualified personnel, appropriate facilities and experience in the execution of comparable projects may request additional information to prepare pre-qualification documents for the above contracts.
