Work Detail
Environmental Services – Species Monitoring According To Articles 11 And 17 Of The Habitats Directive In Saxony-Anhalt: Sample Monitoring Of The Stream Mussel (Unio Crassus). The Aim Of The Service Is To Carry Out A Complete Sample Monitoring Process In Accordance With The Federal Or State Monitoring Concepts For The Species Of Stream Mussel (Unio Crassus). The Methodological Specifications Of The Monitoring Concept Apply To The Collection Of Population, Habitat And Impairment Parameters As Well As The Assessment The Ffh Species Stream Mussel From The Saxony-Anhalt State Office For Environmental Protection. The Contractor Independently Obtains The Official Permits Required For The Recording As Well As The Consent Of The Respective Water Body Owners And Documents This To The Client. The Examination Room Has Already Been Determined. If Possible, No Deviation Should Be Made From The Defined Sampling Sites For The Stream Mussel. The Sample Sites Examined In The Report By Rana (2016) Must Be Recorded Within The Study Areas. If Possible, No Deviation Should Be Made From The Defined Test Points. The Methodological Specifications According To Pan & Ilök 2009 Or Updated Versions Of The Bfn/Blak (2017) Apply To The Establishment Of The Sampling Sites For The Stream Mussel, The Collection Of Population, Habitat And Impairment Parameters As Well As The Assessment. In Three Known Study Areas In Saxony-Anhalt, Test Routes Or Areas Specified By An 13 (Rana 2016) Are To Be Examined. The Test Section Or Area For The Population Survey Of The Stream Mussel Should, Depending On What Is Possible In The Area, Have A Length Of 1,000 M, On Which A Transect Laid Across The Course Of The Water (2 Transects For Large Populations) Should Be Examined. If The Settlement Density Of The Stream Mussel Is Too Low, A Transect Survey Is Not Carried Out And An Overview Mapping Is Carried Out. From This Random Inspection Of The Populated River Bed, An Expert Estimate Of The Population Size Along The Entire Length Of The River Is Made. All Animals Sitting On The Surface Must Be Detected Using A Visual Search, If Necessary A Viewing Box/Glass, Raking And Selective Scanning Of The Sole. A Visual Inspection Of The Banks For Empty Shells Should Also Be Carried Out. To Assess The Reproduction Rate, Young Animals Should Be Recorded By Digging And Sifting Through The Sediment. The Length Of All Recorded Individuals Is Recorded In The Results. The Number Of Living Animals Is Recorded Per Meter And Determined From The Results Of The Average Values. The Number Of Individuals Of The Stream Mussel Is Then Extrapolated To The Entire Sample Section Or Area. The Time Spent On Recording And The Number Of Transects Must Be Documented In Order To Be Able To Assess The Methodological Comparability Of Studies. For Each Sample Site To Be Processed, The Contractor Must Provide The Information Required In Accordance With The Evaluation Scheme Regarding Habitat Quality And The Impairments Of The Water (Water Maintenance, Substance And Sediment Inputs, Water Flow, Thickness Of The Mud Deposits).
