Work completed to date has identified that using electric locomotives is the most effective and efficient way to help decarbonise rails part of the transport supply chain (either with overhead wires, batteries, or a hybrid). The investigation is in the form of a Detailed Business Case (DBC). To inform the business case, we intend to undertake market briefings with registered locomotive suppliers to test and validate electric locomotive options suitable for the Golden Triangle context.
