The improvements are being delivered in stages and are aligned to the outcomes identified in Aucklands City Centre Masterplan (CCMP). The WSBI project also seeks to provide safe, connected and efficient pedestrian facilities to accommodate growth and improve the attractiveness of active modes, while also exploring and enhancing urban real opportunities. The corridor improvements have been separated into three stages with stage 1 (the section between Queen Street and Albert Street) currently under construction with completion planned ahead of the new Te Waihorotiu station. Stage 2 (the subject of this notice) is the next stage of the corridor planned to be upgraded within the next 5 years, while stage 3 is a future stage subject to further investigation. The Detailed Business Case (DBC) for the WSBI project was completed in 2022 and was approved by the AT Board in 2023. We are now seeking to partner with a consultant to reconfirm and advance the preferred option design from the DBC to a preliminary design level for stage 2.
