Work Detail
Construction Work For Water Projects – Dredging Work In The Emden Seaport 2025 - Conditioning Of Fluid Mud Layers Through Recirculation. Niedersachsen Ports Gmbh & Co. Kg (Hereinafter: “Nports Or Client”) Is The Largest Infrastructure Operator Of Public Seaports, Island Supply Ports And Regional Ports On The German North Sea Coast. The Client Is Responsible For Five Seaports, Seven Island Supply Ports And Three Regional Ports In The Coastal Region Of Lower Saxony. The Company Consists Of The Headquarters In Oldenburg And The Branches In Brake, Cuxhaven, Emden, Norden And Wilhelmshaven. The Core Tasks Include The Development, Construction And Maintenance Of The Port Infrastructure. The Subject Of The Present Negotiation Procedure Is Dredging Work To Condition Fluid Mud Layers Through Recirculation In The Emden Seaport. The Emden Seaport Essentially Consists Of The Tide-Dependent Outer Harbor And The Tide-Free Inland Harbor With Additional Harbor Basins. The Seaport Also Includes The Emskai And Emspier Piers, Which Are Open To Tides. Due To Its Location On The Brackish Water Area Of The Tideems, Significant Amounts Of Suspended Matter Enter The Harbor And There Is A Risk That They Will Settle And Consolidate There. In Order To Maintain The Required Water Depths, Regular Maintenance Dredging Must Take Place. Contrary To The Classic Dredging Method For Loosening, Loading, Conveying And Depositing (Dumping Or Flushing) Dredged Material, The So-Called Sediment Conditioning (Recirculation Process) Has Been Used In The Port Of Emden For Years, Taking Into Account The Use Of Hold Suction Dredgers. This Process Is Essentially Based On Preventing Re-Solidification (Consolidation) Of The Fluid Mud Body Lying On The Harbor Floor Through Regular Treatment (Recirculation), So That It Retains Its Flowability And The Smooth Flow Of Shipping Traffic Is Guaranteed. Fluid Mud Has The Property That It Only Gradually Turns Into Silt After A Long Period Of Sinking, Because Bacterial Colonies Are Located On Its Individual Particles, And Their Excreted Mucus Creates Significant Buoyancy. When Carrying Out The Advertised Dredging Work, It Is Important To Maintain A Certain In-Situ Density (Around 11.55 Kn/M3) Through Regular Recirculation. At The Same Time, However, The Living Conditions Of The Various Bacterial Strains In The Fluid Mud Must Be Maintained By Stirring Or Mixing With Air To Such An Extent That The Buoyancy Conditions Remain. To Do This, A Cargo Space Suction Dredger Equipped With An Underwater Pump Pushes The Water-Suspended Solid Mixture Into Its Cargo Space, Where It Comes Into Contact With The Outside Air For A Short Time. Any Methane Gases That May Have Been Produced Escape Here At The Same Time. After Enrichment With Oxygen, The Dredged Material Is Then Returned To The Harbor Bottom. In Addition To Density, The Fluidity Of The Material Is A Crucial Factor In Assessing Nautical Depth. In The Frame
