The responses received were extremely constructive and provided ICC with a good basis for planning this Request for Proposal. Suggestions were wide ranging and included maintaining and improving the current service routes and frequency through to proposing on-demand services. Invercargills public transport service provides choice enabling people to access work, education, social and health facilities, and other activities. There is an exciting opportunity to revitalise Invercargills public transport system, to develop an approach that is more relevant for future travel patterns and utilise technology to connect passengers to services. This is genuinely an exciting opportunity to deliver a much-needed service for Invercargill. The Sustainable Public Transport Framework enables provision of a flexible service. We are open to making better use of technology to improve the convenience of the service for passengers. While Invercargill may be a relatively small city there a lot of benefits in contracting in smaller centres, including the ability to innovate and try different approaches to ease of set up.
