Tenders are invited for Consultancy Services for the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (Crva) and Development of Guidelines for the Climate-Resilient Road Transport Infrastructure in PNG PROPOSED ACTIVITIES & SCOPE OF WORK: 1) Proposed Activities for the Overall Project The GGGI is seeking a qualified consulting firm (referred to as a consultant) to support the development of the Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) guidelines on climate-proofing road infrastructure development and road design standards that seek an opportunity to incorporate nature-based solutions. The consultancy will focus on three (3) components: 1. Assessment and development of the CRVA Guidelines: Develop assessment tools to conduct Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessments for road transport infrastructure in PNG 2. Conduct Training on the CRVA Guidelines: Train responsible government staff on applying the CRVA guidelines. 3. Pilot the Guideline: Conduct a pilot application of CRVA guidelines on priority roads. Climate change considerations must be applicable to all stages of planning, developing, constructing, and maintaining road assets. These considerations of climate change and natural hazard risks during the planning, design, and construction of new projects and upgrade works, as well as part of reviews of operations, will assist in managing current and future risks and improve the ability of our road infrastructure and assets to meet service and accessibility demands in the future. It will also assist the communities we serve in becoming more resilient to shocks and stresses by maintaining a safe, operational road network that can be used to service their needs. The CRVA guidelines will be developed to assist in the following ways: i. Undertaking climate change and natural hazards risk assessments. ii. Identifying a range of planning, design, construction, and operational treatment options; and iii. Stages and priority at which those treatment options should be assessed.
