Notice of Information (Advance Notice) (NOI) for Low Emission Transport Fund: Heavy Ev Charging Infrastructure Open Date: Tuesday, 22 October 2024 9:00 AM (Pacific/Auckland UTC+13:00) Close Date: Friday, 13 December 2024 5:00 PM (Pacific/Auckland UTC+13:00) Tender Type: Notice of Information (Advance Notice) (NOI) Tender Coverage: Sole Agency Regions: Auckland Bay of Plenty Canterbury Chatham Islands Gisborne Hawkes Bay Manawatu-Wanganui Marlborough Nelson Northland Otago Southland Taranaki Tasman Waikato Wellington West Coast Required Pre-qualifications: None Overview: The demand for publicly available charging infrastructure is increasing with the uptake of battery electric commercial, heavy and off-road vehicles. These vehicles are expected to have large energy demands at high rates. As such, technologies which reduce the impact of this activity on the national grid will be required to fuel this transition. Subject to internal approvals, EECA intends to release a Request for Proposals (RFP) in February 2025 to support a Heavy EV Charging Infrastructure round of the Low Emission Transport Fund (LETF). This round will demonstrate innovative technologies incorporating these solutions as part of publicly available charging stations. It will not be supporting projects which are solely chargers but is instead focused on seeking projects which enable our electricity grid to support wider uptake of these chargers. We intend for co-funded projects to generate lessons that will inform the market of what will be required for the wider rollout of these charging stations. Before the RFPs launch, EECA wants to engage with suppliers of commercial or heavy EV charging, or any other party interested in or intending to be part of a publicly available heavy EV charging project. These parties may include fleet operators, energy providers, electricity distributors, ports etc. Tender Link : https://www.gets.govt.nz/EECA/ExternalTenderDetails.htm?id=30459055
