Oct 2024 Intervention Sector(s): Agriculture, Development, Training & Capacity Building Remuneration range: < 1000 (USD) Duration of Contract: 4 months Objective The project aims to enhance agricultural sustainability in vulnerable communities using permaculture for climate resilience. It involves young people, runs community awareness campaigns, and utilizes permaculture techniques for effective water management. Additionally, it engages local stakeholders to tailor project technologies to their specific needs and conducts educational programs about climate change and sustainable farming. Fair Trade Lebanon (FTL) is seeking a needs assessment expert to evaluate the requirements of the selected participants. Summary Following the selection of 75 candidates to enroll in the program, the consultant will meet with these participants to assess their knowledge and skills in permaculture techniques. Based on this assessment, the consultant will develop and implement strategies to enhance their proficiency. Additionally, the consultant will prepare recommendations for FTL to draft the capacity building component. Scope of work Following the selection of the 75 candidates to enroll in the program, the consultant will meet with the selected participants for the capacity building program to assess their knowledge and skills in terms of permaculture techniques. Following the assessment, the consultant will develop and implement strategies to improve their proficiency. The consultant will prepare recommendations for FTL to draft the capacity building component. Outcomes Following the need assessment process, the anticipated outcome is a thorough understanding of participants current proficiency in permaculture techniques. This assessment will identify specific areas where participants require improvement, enabling the formulation of targeted strategies and interventions. Deliverables To create the need assessment tool To produce the needs assessment report for each farmer To prepare recommendations for the capacity building component Qualifications Higher university degree in agriculture, social sciences, statistics, or any relevant field Minimum 5 years of experience as a consultant Experience using data analysis tools and software such as KOBO, SPSS, and others Extensive experience interacting with and relating to gender professionals and international stakeholders at senior level Able to synthesize large data sets to reach conclusions and strategic recommendations Proven knowledge of Fair-Trade principles In-depth knowledge of the Lebanese context Proven presentation skills Drives results Skills Adheres to FTL values Good interpersonal communication skills Engaged in developing self and others High degree of self-motivation Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills Good time management Organized and able to create multiple timelines and schedules Good knowledge of Arabic and English Payment Terms Payments will be made through bank Payment will be made within 15 to 20 business days upon submission of invoice How to apply Applicants are requested to send their: Portfolio of previous projects + references CV and ID of trainer Short Concept-note related to the abovementioned intervention Detailed Budget The detailed workplan will be developed and agreed upon in coordination with FTL team.
