Work Detail
Tenders are invited for Quantum Information Network Simulator Tool Development (Artes 4.0 Sl Spl 3A.212) Expro+ Objective: The Objective Of This Activity Is To Develop A Quantum Network Simulation Allowing To Model, Assess The Performance And Compare Various Architectures Of Satellite-Based Quantum Networkstargeted Improvements: Simulator Calculating Possible Distances, Qubit Exchange Rates, State Fidelities Using Satellite Links (Leo, Meo, Geo) Under Realistic Conditions With (In Near Future) Available Hardware. Description: Designing A Quantum Network At European And Global Scale Will Require A Large Effort Which Often Is Impractical Or Simply Cannot Be Emulated In The Laboratory. Nevertheless, Prior To Field Deployment, Network Performance Needs To Be Approximated. This Requires Modelling And Development Of Simulation Tools And Is Particularly Relevant For Satellite Which Once In Orbit Cannot Be Modified. There Is A Range Of Quantum Network Modelling Tools For Fixed Fibre-Based Architectures, However, There Lack Modelling And Simulations Tools For Quantum Networks Incorporating Dynamic Satellite Links, Therefore Parameters Directly Related To Satellite Connectivity Such As Free Space Path Through The Atmosphere, Time Delay Related To The Satellite Altitude, Inclination, And Velocity. This Activity Will Aim To Leverage On The Existing Models While Developing A Satellite Related Module Of The Model That Can Be Based On Open Access, And As Much As Possible Be Compatible With Existing Modelling Tools. Depending On The Use Case, Different Key Performance Indicators (Qubit Rate, Link Distance And Availability) Will Be Required From The Quantum Networks. A Versatile Network Simulator Should Enable To Generate These Kpi For Satellite Configurations And Allow For Integration With Similar Models For Terrestrial Fibre Based Quantum Networks. Procurement Policy: C(1) = Activity Restricted To Non-Prime Contractors (Incl. Smes).
