The secondary project is to construct a single 44 metre span bridge across Makiekie Stream on Pohangina West Road. This secondary project is dependent on the availability of funding. The approaches to both bridges will need to be raised. This will require approximately 5000m3 of earthworks. The material for bulk earthworks will be supplied by Manawatu District Council at stockpiles adjacent to each site. The bridge structures consist of three identical 44 metre long steel trusses (one at Makiekie and two at Churchill Rd). Eastbridge Ltd has been engaged directly by Manawatu District Council for the design phase. Eastbridge Ltd is also the nominated subcontractor for the fabrication and delivery of the 44 metre long steel trusses. The successful contractor will be required to coordinate this work package with Eastbridge Ltd. Bridge foundations will be reinforced concrete bored piles and bridge decks will be precast concrete slabs. The contract will consist of two Separable Portions; SP1 Churchill Rd bridge and approaches SP2 Makiekie Stream bridge and approaches (subject to the availability of funding).
