The pitch of the existing roof is below 3° and the roofing paper has been laid vertically rather than horizontally. This is creating an issue with water penetration into the existing ceiling cavity causing the ceiling tiles to absorb water and come away from their fixings. The ceiling tiles across all classrooms in Rimu block have required additional fixings and pose a risk that any heavy rain event undermines the ceiling posing a health and safety issue.
