Riverlink is part of the Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi programme being carried out by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Greater Wellington Regional Council, Hutt City Council and mana whenua Ngti Toa Rangatira and Taranaki Whnui ki Te Upoko o Te Ika. The Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi programme includes: Stronger flood defences, upgrading the stopbanks, and lowering and widening Te Awa Kairangi/Hutt River giving it more room to flow naturally, enhancing river health and allowing more water to pass down the river during floods; A safer, more reliable and more accessible transport system through the creation of a new Melling interchange and a public transport hub; Support for urban renewal and growth opportunities. GWs work includes the installation of approximately 750 1000m of rocklines, channel shaping and berm lowering, and additional rock supply of between 5,000 and 10,000 tonnes of B-Grade. GW is seeking a suitably qualified civils contractor, with appropriate management and support staff to deliver the work in accordance with the design, specification, and environmental and consent frameworks.ROI responses will be evaluated on a combination of the respondents capability, health and safety, and broader social outcomes. It is our expectation that this scope of work can be complete as a single package delivered in the 2024/2025 earthworks season.
