Railway Construction Works – Construction Of A New Railway Line In The Nea Karvali Toxotes Division (Ad 3506). The Project Of The New Single Railway Line (S.G.) Nea Karvali – Toxotes To Be Tendered Is Part Of The Future Railway Axis Thessaloniki – Toxotes, Xanthi. The Beginning Of This Project Is Placed Northeast Of The Settlement Of Nea Karvalis, Where A Simple Station With A Passenger Stop (New Karvalis Railway Station) Will Be Constructed. The New Railway Line Is Directed Ne, Moving Generally Parallel To The A2 Highway (Egnatia Odos), It Passes Between The Petropigi Settlement And The Kavala Airport, Near The Gravounas Settlement Nw Of Chrysoupolis. In This Area, The Railway Station (Ss) Gravounas Is Being Built, Which Will Serve The Wider Area Of Chrysoupolis. The Line Continues To The Ne, Bridging The Nestos River. The End Of The Project Is In The Area Of The Old Sugar Factory Of Toxoton In The Sw Of The City Of Xanthi, Where A Connection Is Formed With The Existing Monastery Of S.G. Thessaloniki - Alexandroupolis. The Length Of The New Line Is Approximately 31.7 Km. The Project Also Includes A Secondary Connecting Branch Of S.G. Starting From S.S. Nea Karvalis And Heads Sw Towards The Commercial Port Of Kavala Filippos B With A Length Of About 5.3 Km. On This Connecting Branch And Before The Entrance To The Port, A Cargo Sorting Station Is Formed. The Said Secondary S.G. Ends Within The Land Zone Of The Port Of Kavala Filippos Ii, Where A Port Station Is Being Formed. The Project Does Not Include Signaling - Remote Control And Electrification Of The Line, But In The Planning Of All Individual Projects There Is Provision For Their Future Implementation.
