Expression of Interest For Energy Transition Acceleration Roadmaps

Expression of Interest are invited for Energy Transition Acceleration Roadmaps for Pacific Island Countries The objective of the assignment is to develop roadmaps and provide recommendations on ways to accelerate energy transition, increase renewable energy scale up and decarbonization of the energy sector. The roadmaps will first focus on four countries: Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, and the Federated State of Micronesia, however may be expanded to cover a further 1-2 countries. The objective is to provide the selected countries with a realistic roadmap that will guide them achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) targets and accelerate the energy transition in close collaboration with utilities, government stakeholders, and development partners. The roadmaps will focus on five priority areas: (1) Scale up clean energy technologies and scale back on fossil fuels; (2) Give communities access to sustainable energy services; (3) Prioritize energy efficiency and tackle the demand side; (4) Foster the climate resilience of energy infrastructure; and (5) Strengthening the institutional capacity, improve financially viability and affordability for consumers.
