The Federal Institute For Geosciences And Natural Resources (Bgr For Short) Is The Geoscientific Competence Center And The Federal Geological Service. Department B3.3 Is Assigned To Department 3 (Underground Storage And Economic Space) And Deals, Among Other Things, With Rock-Physical And Geomechanical Investigations Of Potential Host Rocks (Rock Salt, Clay Rock, Crystalline Rock) In Connection With The Selection Of A Location For A Final Repository For High-Level Radioactive Waste. For This Purpose, The Department Has A Laboratory With A Variety Of Rock Testing Machines, Which Will Be Supplemented By An Electromechanical Time Test Stand. The Subject Of This Contract Is The Delivery Of An Electromechanical Creep Testing Machine, Project Name: “Liane” Including Installation, Commissioning And Proof Of Full Functionality. The Client (In Short: Ag) Is Bgr. The Contractor (In Short: An) Provides The Services Under This Contract In Compliance With The Requirements And Specifications Described In More Detail Below. For The Long-Term Effective Containment Of Radioactive Waste, There Must Be A Retainable Geotechnical Barrier That Encloses The Waste Containers. The Hydraulic Tightness Of This Barrier Depends On Numerous Material And Environmental Factors, Which Are Recreated And Characterized In The Laboratory. Three Main Techniques Are Used: (1) Compaction Of The Loose Starting Material In Oedometric Cells To Produce A Cohesive Starting Material And (2) Uniaxial And (3) Triaxial Tests. Depending On The Selected Environmental Conditions, Uniaxial And Triaxial Experiments Record, Among Other Things, The Strength, Creep Ability, Stiffness And Compactability Of The Material To Be Tested. Test Specimens Made From Clay Minerals (E.G. Bentonite), Crushed Salt, Rock Salt, Claystone And Combinations Thereof Are Tested. This Service Description Expressly Refers To The Delivery, Assembly And Commissioning Of An Electromechanical Creep Testing Machine. The Contractor Ensures Appropriate Packaging For The Safe Transport Of The Entire Scope Of Delivery. Test Cells (Oedometric Or Triaxial) Are Available. It Must Be Possible To Accommodate These Dimensions And Move Them To Their Full Travel Distances. In Addition, The Sample Holder Holder Of The Creep Testing Machine Must Be Compatible With The Existing Cells To Ensure Proper Functionality. Explanations On The Dimensions Of The Test Cells, The Mounting Bracket And The Travel Paths Can Be Found In Sections 3.1 To 3.3. The Clients Specific Requirements For The Contractor Are Listed In This Service Description. The Project Or Testing Machine Is Called “Liane” (Linear Drive Machine For Short) Within Bgr.
