The facilities are to include a new medical school building with teaching and staff facilities, accommodation and all associated landscaping and services. We are looking to procure early contractor involvement services to assist throughout the design phases in order to ensure that smart, efficient design solutions are implemented so that construction timing and costs are optimised. The new medical school at the University of Waikato will be a high-profile project with considerable media interest both locally and nationally. The new facility will provide training for much needed skills in the New Zealand economy. The programme strategy this project needs to be carefully considered and agreed by the project team in order to meet the requirement to have the facilities fully functional for teaching to commence in January 2027. We are looking for a contractor to assist with setting the strategy for the project in the initial design phases. You will provide advice into the efficiencies (cost and time) of various design solutions to ensure that the design is optimised for construction. The selected ECI contractor will have preferred main contractor status for the construction delivery phase, provided that the contractor has meet their requirements during the design phases of the project.
