The Port Of Felixstowe Rail Infrastructure Has A Length Of Approximately 22 Kilometers, Consisting Of Three Main Terminals (North, Central And South), And Can Accomodate Trains Of Up To 30 Standard Wagon Lengths. The Three Terminals Have Interconnecting Roads And Sidings As Shown In The Drawing Attached. There Are Two Roads In And Out Of The Port, One From Trimley And The Other From Felixstowe Beach Station; Both Roads In And Out Are Bi-Directional Single Track. The Works Comprise But Are Not Limited To: 1, Patrolling, Inspection, Maintenance And Repair Of Plain Line, Switches And Crossings 2, Works To Signalling Equipment, Electrical And Mechanical Assets 3, Ancillary Works Such As Maintenance To Walkways And Track Drainage. In Order To Plan And Undertake Essential Maintenance Works Before An Asset Failure Occurs, There Is A Requirement For Regular Inspections And Patrolling To Identify Defects, Take Measurements And Monitor Degradation. Planned Servicing And Maintenance Of Assets Is Also Required To Avoid Asset Failure. Rail Operations Run 24/7 6 Days A Week. Current Moves Are Over 30 Trains In And Out Per Day Which Is Planned To Increase To Over 40 Per Day In The Future. To Minimise Impact On Rail Operations, An Emergency Callout Service Is Required So Assets That Fail Are Quickly And Efficiently Repaired.
