Expression of Interest For Strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Management

Expression of Interest are invited for Strengthening Community-Based Disaster Risk Management in Lao Peoples Democratic Republic (PDR). ISSUE DATE AND TIME: Jan 22,2024 05:44 CLOSING DATE AND TIME: Feb 12,2024 23:59 The key objective of this consultancy is to build the capacity of local Disaster Management Committees (DMCs) to strengthen risk-informed Early Warning Services (EWS) in two identified villages in Lao PDR. EWS should be strengthened such that dissemination and communication of risk information reaches all who need it and is understandable and usable; and that communities are better prepared to respond. This will be achieved through five key activities; including:(i) completing a rapid assessment of key risks in the area of interest and inception workshop and report;(ii) conducting training on Community Based disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) approaches at the District and Village levels with the respective DMCs;(iii) facilitating the development of Community Based Disaster Risk Management Plan(s) for the two selected villages through participatory processes;(iv) conducting table-top exercises and simulation drills for flood preparedness; and(v) documenting CBDRM good practices through a video documentary and final report.The expected outcome of the consultancy is enhanced preparedness and response capability in the two villages to act upon warning and risk information to minimize the impact of disasters on lives; livelihoods and socio-economic systems.
