Work Detail
Construction Work - Widening Yangtze Canal Phase B. Since 2013, The Yangtze Canal Has Been The Access Channel For The Port Basins To Maasvlakte 2. Due To The Phased Development Of Maasvlakte 2, This Canal Is In First Construction Narrower Than Necessary In The Final Situation. The Current Channel Has Been Explained On 1-Way Traffic Of The Larger Container Ships. As A Result, Ships Sometimes Have To Waiting At Sea Until The Departing Ship Has Left The Port. This Has A Negative Influence On Turn-Around Time And Competitive Position Of Rotterdam. These Waiting Times Will Increase Even Further In The Future, When More And Larger Ships Are Sent To Maasvlakte 2 Going Sailing. That Is Why The Yangtze Canal Should Be Widened And Deepened Necessary. In Order To Keep The Shipping Path Of The Yangtze Canal At The Desired Depth And Width It Is Necessary To Build Two Quay Walls On The South Side Of The Canal To Be Realized, On Either Side Of The Existing Antarcticacade. These Quay Walls Provide: In Addition To An In-Depth Function, Also The Possibility Of Other Service-Oriented Functions To Accommodate. Within The Yangtze Canal Widening Program We Distinguish: Following Project Components: Phase A – 500 Meters Of Quay On The East Side Of The Antarctica Quay For Deepening The Yangtze Canal, To Be Equipped For Tug Moorings (In Progress); Phase B – 1,400 Meters Of Quay For Deepening The Yangtze Canal On The West Side Of The Antarctic Quay, To Be Set Up For Inland Navigation; Phase C – Dredging Work For Widening And Deepening Of The Sailing Path + Adjustments To The Existing Antarctic Quay. This Selection Procedure Relates To The Realization Of Phase B. Project Scope With The Realization Of Phase B Is Planned For: Approx. 1400 Meters Of Quay Wall With A Retaining Height Of Approx 15 Meters, Including Bottom Protection; Quay Wall With Mooring Facilities, Laboratory Stairs, Furniture, Cathodic Protection By Means Of Impressed Current, Drainage And Various Wells; Geopolymer Concrete Is Used In The Cover Roof; Dredging Work On The South Side Of The Canal (Approximately 1,300,000M3); Connection To Existing Antarcticacade.
