The Intent Of This Project Is To Reconfigure Approximately 25.2 Sq.M (272 Sq.Ft) Of Existing Interior Space Into A New Asylum Claimant Waiting Room And Add Approximate 34.41 Sq.M (370 Sq.Ft.) Public Washroom Addition To The North Side Of The Building At The Emerson Port Of Entry. Based Off Option One From A Feasibility Study Completed In 2020, The Interior Renovation Adjacent To The Main Building Entrance Will Consist Of Demolishing The Existing Public Washrooms (Male And Female) Inclusive All Fixtures, Accessories, Flooring, And Ceiling. Selective Interior Partition Walls And Doors Will Be Demolished To Reconfigure The Space Into A New Waiting Room Equipped With A Small Counter, Sink And Microwave. New Resilient Flooring And Ceiling Will Be Installed Throughout The Renovated Space And A New Separate Accessible Family/Universal Washroom Will Be Located South Of The Waiting Room With Primary Access From The Claimant Room. The Existing Exterior Door On The West Side Of The Building Will Be Removed And Relocated South In Closer Proximity To The Main Desk. The New Public Washroom Addition Will Be Located West Of The Main Building Entrance And Will Identify All Clearance Requirements (Sink, Transfer, Door, Door Actuator, Etc) For Accessible Design. Touchless Fixtures Are To Be Prioritized As Well As Recessed Washroom Accessories, Power Door Actuators, A Push-To-Lock Button And An Emergency Call Button. The Emergency Call Button Shall Be Connected To The Security Desk, And Be Coordinated. New Fixtures Should Meet Or Exceed Watersense Standards For Water Consumption.The Design Shall Be In Compliance To The Latest Versions Of The Nbcc, Csa B651 Accessible Design For The Built Environment And The Federal Identity Program (Fip).
