Expression of Interest For Madagascar Safer Schools Study

Expression of Interest are invited for Madagascar Safer Schools Study The objective of this consultancy is to provide technical support to undertake rapid diagnostics of school infrastructure; build training sessions in Madagascar; and define an intervention strategy to reduce the vulnerability of school infrastructure. Specifically; this work aims to:a) - develop an informed understanding of the vulnerability of existing school infrastructure to natural hazards and the impacts of climate change; b) - develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of schools as emergency shelters and how that impacts classroom disruption; c) - review the current/actual community-based strategies to cope with post-cyclone damage/disruption; d) - suggest ways in which school facilities can be strengthened and augmented to ensure safe sheltering while minimizing disruption to school activities;e) - design an optimal intervention strategy to enhance the resilience of schools and their role in emergency preparedness and response; including community-based early warning and shelter.
