Tenders are invited for Lightweight Stainless Steel Tanks and Structures - Expro+ The structural mass index of a liquid propulsion rocket stage is a major parameter for payload performance. A large part of liquid stages in Europe is using aluminium alloys for their tanks and structures, and significant maturation projects are preparing for future stages in CFRP. Foreign examples like the Centaur stage in the USA and current studies in Europe show that stainless steel couldalso provide efficient solutions for lightweight liquid stages, benefitting from the progress in alloys and production means capabilities, in particular for mastering low thickness walls.
